An Initital method used to steal American Indian land was marriage. Although rare sometimes the unions were honorable. As in the marriage of John Rolfe with Pocohantas the motivation was often greed. As exemplified by many families there are White versions of the same Indian Surnames they married Indian to steal land abandoned the Indian and quickly married white women to transfer the land away from the Negro Indians. This is demonstrated by the SAVAGE family, In addition most Virginia settlers just took the Indigenous Indian Surnames without bothering to marry in order to steal land.
